Kichiya
A moment to unwind in the city.
In Higashi-Nihombashi, Kichiya serves balanced daily lunches and signature wappa bento boxes by day, followed by varied small plates paired with craft beer and sake at night.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Set along Kiyosubashi-dori in Higashi-Nihombashi across the 1st and 2nd floors of its building, Kichiya offers thoughtfully composed meals that change character from day to night. Its popular takeout option, the daily wappa bento, packs a colourful array of ingredients into a traditional bentwood box, earning praise for its vibrant presentation and gentle seasoning that lets the base flavours shine.
Lunches in the 2nd-floor dining space centre on balance, featuring plenty of vegetables and side dishes. Offerings cater to varied midday cravings, ranging from daily set meals with warm miso soup to seasonal taco rice and spicy chicken curry. The taco rice in particular layers shredded lettuce, cherry tomatoes, and avocado with crunchy taco chips and a soft-cooked fried egg for a satisfying, comforting plate.
Come evening, the kitchen shifts toward an inviting spread designed for lingering over drinks. The counter and tables fill with clever small plates such as potato salad with tuna and shiso leaves, cream cheese with fig, and baked natto wrapped in deep-fried tofu, alongside hearty favourites like thick Japanese rolled omelette, ham cutlet, and Shiba shrimp tempura. Guests can pair regional craft pours like Shodoshima Mame Mame Beer, sake, or wine with an evening set meal—pairing fried chicken or the daily main with seasonal nibbles—for an easy, well-rounded dinner.
